Stem Camp

CCMS students had the opportunity to get their hands dirty at this summer’s STEM Camp hosted by OSU-Cascades and CCMS’s own science and math teachers, Mr. Poynor, Ms. Neuhaus, and Mr. Cripe. Through two days of modeling earthquakes, floods, and volcanic eruptions, the students embraced the true nature of science and engineering by trying new ideas and learning from their failures. The camp culminated with the students putting their learning to the test by attempting to design communities that would be resilient to every challenge the camp instructors threw at them including pyroclastic flows, lahars, flash floods, and seismic waves. A special thank you to all the participants in this year’s camp from all of the instructors.
