Woodcraft business comes to Crook County Middle School

On Wednesday, October 11th, a local businesswoman, Jodi Kerr of Meandering Maker, spoke to Crook County Middle School woodshop students about her woodcraft business and how she uses basic woodworking skills to make products for her craft parties. She showed students how to make these pumpkins for the fall season and donated a Kreg Jig to the woodshop so that students can make some of their own. Thank you, Jodi!

Student Spotlight – Cole Calhoun

Student Spotlight

“Cole Calhoun is an eighth-grade student at Crook County Middle School.  Cole’s steadfast desire to improve himself and help those around him are contagious as he demonstrates selfless service and leadership in the building. As a student who has already claimed his future, Cole often interfaces with his teachers at lunchtime and then helps other students who are struggling to learn. He can be seen frequently throughout the building as an office aide helping others and holding the front doors open and greeting students with a positive message as they arrive at school. He partnered with another student to initiate a weekly meeting for athletes to build character on and off the field. Fifteen athletes are currently attending, and the number grows weekly.  Cole Calhoun exemplifies Colt mentality, and he is paving the way for others to follow him to a bright future.” — Scott Buchanan, 8th Grade Teacher

Responses from CCMS Teachers

Teachers at CCMS responded to the question, “What do you want your students to leave your classroom with at the end of the school year?” Here are just a few of their responses.

CCMS Health screenings will be on September 19th

Health screenings include vision using a SPOT vision screener and dental exam.

Advantage Dental wants to help keep your community cavity-free and healthy. Dental Hygienists from Advantage Dental will be available on site during the CCMS health screening.

During a dental screening, dental staff will look in your student’s mouth to check for cavities. They will also evaluate your student’s risk of developing other oral health problems.

If you do not want your student/students to participate in the Health screening please contact CCMS 541-447-6283.
